Account verification / know your customer (KYC)

To verify your identity and accomplish our global KYC verification, we require you to submit a valid Proof of Identity. If you do not have these documents assembled, you can log back in later to complete the registration process and upload the required document(s).

Why is KYC verification required to open an account with Stably?

KYC Compliance is a required Customer Identification Program (CIP) in which U.S. financial institutions must verify the identity of individuals wishing to conduct financial transactions with them.

KYC helps financial institutions (and other businesses) answer the question, “Is this person real?” As a consumer, KYC is an essential step in the onboarding process that verifies your identity and helps protect you against identity theft, synthetic identity fraud, and more.

How long does KYC take?

For approximately 98% of registrations, KYC verification will only take a few minutes once you have submitted your documentation.

What is needed for the KYC process?

  1. A device with camera

  2. Email address

  3. First name / Last name

  4. Date of birth

  5. Address information

  6. SSN or Tax ID

Proof of identity

  • A Valid (unexpired) Government Issued Photo Identification.

  • Acceptable file types: JPEG, PNG, PDF.

Note: If you submit a Driver's License, Government Issued Photo ID or Resident’s Permit, you must upload the front and back of the ID (as separate files). If you submit a Passport, you must upload the page containing your photo and passport number.

Ensure your ID image is clear, and the information on the ID is legible. Avoid glare spots on the ID image. The image you upload should contain the ID only and be cropped to the four corners of your ID – no whitespace surrounding your ID. (See below image example)
